Kiev, Ukraine, 2014-03-24 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air Ukraine announced today that it would react to changing travel demand in Ukraine by cutting fares and adjusting its network and capacity plan.
To stimulate air travel in an environment of lower market demand the airline has cut fares sharply – on average by 20%* – in recent weeks. Extraordinarily low fares will remain available to the travelling public for as long as weak market conditions prevail.
Starting from 30 April 2014 the following changes to Wizz Air’s route network will be effective:
TO BE STARTED: TO BE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED:
ROUTE | ROUTE | |
Lvov – Valencia | Donetsk – Rome Fiumicino
Lvov – Rome Fiumicino | Donetsk – Milan Bergamo
Lvov – Tel-Aviv | Donetsk – Larnaca
Lvov – Naples | Donetsk – Budapest
Lvov – Barcelona Girona | Donetsk – Dortmund
Lvov – Kutaisi | ||
Kiev – Larnaca |
Customers with bookings affected by the temporary suspensions are being contacted by Wizz Air and offered a full refund. The adjusted route network of Wizz Air Ukraine represents 130 flights per week in May 2014, the same number as in the same period a year ago.
Akos Bus, Director General of Wizz Air Ukraine said: “Wizz Air remains highly committed to providing an efficient low cost infrastructure to Ukrainian travellers. We are here for the long run. Nevertheless we continuously monitor travel demand and effects on travel behaviour to best meet the needs of our customers through low ticket fares and great services as well as capacity planning, adequate to the market. The measures we have just announced are temporary. We aim to restore our original growth plan as soon as possible.”
