VisitEngland’s response to the Cabinet Reshuffle

2012-09-06 — /travelprnews.com/ — Jeremy Hunt’s support for tourism led to delivery of the biggest ever domestic tourism marketing campaign in the build-up to the unprecedented events of this year.  He worked hard to engage with our industry to better understand their ambitions and challenges and to ensure a lasting legacy for domestic tourism.

As Minister for Tourism, John Penrose’s legacy is a strong cross-governmental tourism policy which complements England’s Strategic Framework for Tourism which seeks to deliver a 5% year on year growth agenda.  He recognised the need for a strong, lead tourism body for England, of equal standing with Britain’s other national tourist boards, which benefits from a close relationship with destination management organisations.

This is a decisive time for our industry.   The events of 2012 provide a legacy opportunity which we look forward to optimising to further grow the value of the visitor economy, working in tandem with the new Secretary of State, Maria Miller, and Minister, Hugh Robertson.
