LINCOLN, NEB., 2012-10-15 — /travelprnews.com/ — The demographics of today’s traveler are changing, and that can create new business opportunities for those who know how to connect with the diversifying market.
At this year’s Nebraska Travel Conference, nationally recognized marketing expert Kelly McDonald will share her expertise in multicultural marketing and offer insight on how to better understand diverse tourism consumers. Her session, “Changing demographics and how this affects your business, today and tomorrow,” also will help businesses avoid communication or service mistakes, and outline specific strategies to develop effective diversity initiatives.
The annual Travel Conference will be Oct. 24-25 at the Gering Civic Center in Gering.
McDonald, who recently spoke at the U.S. Travel Association’s Educational Seminar for Tourism Organizations (ESTO), also will offer sessions on disaster recovery and crisis management using social media, and on how to market to U.S. Hispanics. Census figures reveal that there are now more than 50 million Latinos residing in the U.S., and that by the year 2020, Latinos will account for one in five U.S. residents. McDonald will demonstrate how to tap into this large, lucrative and growing consumer base.
Anyone interested in learning more about tourism, Nebraska’s third leading industry, is invited to attend the conference. Online registration and the full conference schedule are available at VisitNebraska.gov/tcregistration. Registration ends Oct. 16.
