Travel Alberta: Visitors can follow in the footsteps of world class athletes with Tourism Canmore Kananaskis’ new Learn to be a Biathlete program at The Canmore Nordic Centre

Alberta, Canada, 2015-3-17 — /Travel PR News/ — The Olympic legacy lives on in Alberta and now visitors can follow in the footsteps of world class athletes with Tourism Canmore Kananaskis’ new Learn to be a Biathlete program at The Canmore Nordic Centre. Biathlon is an Olympic winter sport that combines freestyle cross-country skiing (or running and biking in the summer months) and rifle shooting for a competitive and adrenaline-ridden experience.

Offered daily, year-round, participants will learn from the best as real biathlon coaches and national and international level athletes walk you through the basics of the sport before your official race will begin. Guests will choose their modes of endurance including cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in the winter and walking, running or biking in the summer. Then they’ll try their skills at the shooting range, aiming to hit a small target 50 meters away. The program can be customized to suit all activity levels.

Learn to be a Biathlete offers a professional instructor, day membership to Biathlon Canada, rifle rental, ammunition, and biathlon range pass for $180 CAD per person (net pricing available) with a minimum group size of 5 people.

Situated amoungst the iconic Canadian Rocky Mountains, The Canmore Nordic Centre has hosted many world class events, including the 1988 Winter Olympic Games. Currently the training base for the Canadian Biathlon Team, the facility also plays host to teams from around the world. In the summer, the centre is enjoyed by locals and travellers alike for a range of exciting activities.

This one-of-a-kind experience, only available in Canmore, marries true Olympic spirit with an exhilarating new adventure for an unforgettable experience in the beautiful Canadian Rockies. For more details and booking information, visit Tourism Canmore’s website.
