transavia.com Masters Codeshare and Interline E-Ticket Processes with Travelport’s Comprehensive E-Ticket Technologies

Atlanta, 2013-02-06 — /travelprnews.com/ — Travelport, the business services provider to the global travel industry, today announces a long-term IT services partnership with the Netherlands’ low-cost carrier transavia.com, an independently operated member of the Air France/KLM Group.

transavia.com has adopted the Travelport ETDBase™, a global e-ticket database hosting service, and joined the Travelport E-Ticket Interchange to fully support its codeshare and interline e-ticketing agreements with a growing number of airline and industry partners.

  • Travelport ETDBase is a comprehensive e-ticket database hosting service used by airlines to quickly implement e-ticketing, and store and manage e-ticket data for online and interline e-ticketing. Over 60 million e-tickets are stored in the e-ticket database, which Travelport built and maintains to eliminate costly investments and risks for airlines, and make interline partner connections a fast, simple and cost-effective process.
  • Travelport E-Ticket Interchange manages around 70 percent of interline e-ticket messages between airline partners worldwide, including ground handlers. It supports over 6,200 interline agreements and in 2012 processed more than 435 million messages.

“Other airlines hosted in our passenger service system use Travelport e-ticket solutions, and the proof in their performance made our decision easy to partner with Travelport,” said Rob van Dam, vice president Sales for transavia.com. “There are many technicalities involved in e-ticketing and interlining – from industry standards to reporting, BSPs, revenue accounting, rules, data storage…all of these must be streamlined by a solid e-ticket database and interline processes. Travelport has truly changed the landscape for low-cost airlines by providing top tier solutions without the costs of building and maintaining our own databases and tools to manage these complex processes. Expanding our European reach is an important part of our ongoing distribution strategy and an agreement with Travelport is the obvious way to achieve this. By accessing Travelport’s large customer base, we are opening up a valuable new channel for consumers to book our flights.”

“Travelport’s unique e-ticketing solution provides a global interline e-ticketing facility that reduces implementation times, costs and complexities, while giving airlines of any size the ability to compete and grow on a global scale,” said Derek Sharp, Travelportpresident and managing director, Global Distribution Sales & Services and Airline IT Solutions. “Travelport is pleased to support transavia.com’s growth and expansion through industry leading e-ticket technologies.”

“Our needs are expanding for partner-to-partner communications,” added van Dam. “Since the E-Ticket Interchange only requires a one-time connection to our airline, we can activate agreements in just days with new airlines, ground handling companies and also GDSs, where we are able to facilitate e-ticketing for travel agents. It is all very cost efficient.”
