Bangkok, Thailand – 2013-01-07 — /travelprnews.com/ — The leading hotel booking engine in the Asia-Pacific region, Agoda.com, has released a list of their customers’ top 10 favorite cities based on nightlife excitement. Agoda, which is under the NASDAQ-listed Priceline.com umbrella and whose website boasts of having 4,000,000 satisfied customers, received feedback from over 113,000 respondents who rated their experiences in various Asian cities.
Travelers were asked to rate a city’s nightlife on a scale of 1-to-5, with 1 being “poor” and 5 being “excellent”. Bangkok, the hopping Thai capital known for its eclectic shopping opportunities, energetic clubs and pubs, and endless street food options, nabbed top honors. Rounding out the top three were Dubai, the UAE’s luxurious desert city that stays fairly low-key during the daytime heat, but revs up when the sun goes down, and Boracay/Caticlan in the Philippines, famous for its outdoor venues and beach bars.
Thailand placed two more destinations in the top 6 as seaside town Pattaya, with its kinetic “Walking Street” area and huge flow of foreign tourists looking to party while on vacation, grabbed the fourth spot; and Phuket, the Land of Smiles’ largest island with its host of bustling beaches and their pumping discotheques and lively beer bars, placed sixth.
Tokyo, Japan’s high-wattage monster city and home to 13 million people, placed fifth in between Pattaya and Phuket, and was followed by two Chinese SAR’s (Special Administrative Regions): Agoda.com customers ranked Hong Kong’s nightlife seventh best and Macau’s, famous for its upscale hotel/casino-centered scene, came in eighth.
Completing the top 10 were Taiwan’s modern capital Taipei and its modern clubs, and Bali, Indonesia’s always humming island paradise.
