This year’s Jersey Battle of Flowers Funfair relocates to St Helier Waterfront and for the first time will feature an international food village

2013-07-25 — /travelprnews.com/ — After a number of years in the Peoples Park the Funfair is relocating to a larger site at St Helier Waterfront in a designated area next to Les Jardins de la Mer. It is being brought to the Island once again by Festival Fun Fairs and will be open between Friday 26 July and Sunday 11 August 2013.

As an added attraction, an international food village will also be set up on the site with a number of Jersey restaurants and catering companies participating, representing a variety of cuisine, including Portuguese, Italian, Polish and Thai. The new food village is being staged by the States of Jersey Development Company (SofJDC), bringing an international flavour to the annual Battle of Flowers Funfair for the first time.

Jason Maindonald from Jersey Development Company said, ‘We hope that it will have a very positive experience for the whole Battle Week and bring a new dynamic to the funfair.  We are really pleased that so many local restaurants have taken the opportunity to show their culinary expertise at this event”.

On behalf of the Jersey Battle of Flowers Board, Event Director Jackie Donald, said, ‘We are pleased to see the return of the Funfair and as a result of its new location organisers can introduce some new rides. As always, the Funfair is well supported by local residents and visitors and we are pleased that the added element of a food village will bring more people down to soak up the carnival atmosphere’

The Funfair will be officially opened by Miss Jersey Battle of Flowers 2013, Taye Le Monnier at 12:00 on Friday 26 July.

The Funfair and Food Fair will open daily from 12:00.
