There’s No Place Like ZooBoo for Family Fun this Halloween

INDIANAPOLIS – 2012-10-10 — /travelprnews.com/ — Lions, tigers and bears! Oh my! Parents looking for a safe, family-friendly place to take their munchkins this fall can simply follow the Yellow Brick Road straight to the Indianapolis Zoo for Halloween ZooBoo presented by the Indianapolis Honda Dealers. This year’s theme is “The Wonderful World of ZooBoo,” which puts a Zoo spin on Frank Baum’s beloved children’s novel “The Wonderful World of Oz.”

From 2 to 7pm for nine enchanted days — Oct. 12-14, 19-21 and 26-28 — guests will enjoy decorations and characters pulled straight from the pages of Baum’s book along with all their favorite ZooBoo activities.

Costumes are encouraged and kids can bring a reusable bag to trick-or-treat at five stations in the Plains area. ZooBoo is perfect for families with young children, with features like the ZooBoo Activity Center presented by Macy’s, Monster Music, Pumpkin Bowling presented by Indiana Members Credit Union, hay maze, obstacle course at the Kroger Splash Park and trick-or-treating at five stations in Plains.

Visitors won’t want to miss the Zoo’s rides, which have been tricked out for Halloween. The White River Junction Train presented by Marathon will receive a “The Wizard of Oz” makeover and guests can experience the 1939 Technicolor film in a whole new way in the 4-D Theater presented by YP. The Roller Ghoster presented by Outback Steakhouse and Round-Go-Merry — the Zoo’s carousel ride in reverse — are also sure to give guests a thrill.

Even the animals get into the Halloween spirit! With cooler autumn weather, the animals are more active and they stay out later so that guests can enjoy the Zoo until the sun sets. Visitors can also enjoy dolphin shows, extra animal chats and the pumpkin-gut splattering fun of Elephant Pumpkin Smash.

Visitors can vote for their favorite Oz-inspired decorations throughout the Zoo, which also make for some great photo ops! With a few heel clicks of their ruby slippers, guests can finish their spook-tacular visit with some Ghoulish Goodies! Best of all, ZooBoo activities are included with regular Zoo admission and free for Zoo members. Discount tickets are available at Indianapolisarea Marsh and Donatos locations. Visitors who purchase advance tickets online at indianapoliszoo.com can also save $2.00! For more information, visit the Zoo’s website or follow the Zoo on Facebook and Twitter.
