Santa Cruz, CA, 2022-Jan-12 — /Travel PR News/ — The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is calling all professional and amateur chefs for the 41st annual Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook-Off. The popular fund-raiser for the City of Santa Cruz Parks & Recreation Department is a two-day event, with amateur chefs competing on Saturday, February 26 and professional chefs on Sunday, February 27.
This year the early bird registration deadline for all chowder chefs is Friday, February 4. Teams that register during the early bird window will receive two Boardwalk wristbands and two team t-shirts. Friday, February 11 is the final day for teams to register. Entry fee is $75.00. For more information, entry form, and rules please visit www.beachboardwalk.com/clamchowder/
The 2022 Clam Chowder Cook-Off marks a return to the traditional format for this popular event after the Cook-Off was a drive-thru in 2021 due to COVID-19 operational constraints in place at that time.
“We are thrilled to return to our traditional format for this fun and popular event,” said Kris Reyes, Boardwalk spokesperson. “The Clam Chowder Cook-Off is beloved by many locally and beyond. It will be exciting to see the teams cooking their tasty chowder on the Boardwalk once again.”
Local celebrity judges will determine the best Manhattan and Boston Clam Chowders in Amateur and Professional categories. The public will weigh in on awards for People’s Choice and Most Tasted Clam Chowders. Prizes include cash, commemorative plaques, and bragging rights. The competition takes place outside, along the Boardwalk.
All proceeds from the Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook-Off benefit the City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department. For more information, please contact the Chowder Committee (831) 420-5273.
