LAS VEGAS, 2015-7-17 — /Travel PR News/ — The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority’s (LVCVA) Board of Directors welcomed three new board members during the July meeting.
Las Vegas City Councilman Ricki Barlow fills the position previously held by Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman. A lifelong Nevadan, Barlow has been the City of Las Vegas Ward 5 representatives since 2007. His term runs through June 2019.
Henderson City Councilman John Marz is also joining the LVCVA Board of Directors. Representing Henderson Ward III since 2012, Marz fills the position previously occupied by Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen. His term is effective through June 2017. Both Barlow and Marz were appointed by their respective councils.
Maurice Wooden, president of Wynn Las Vegas and Encore will fill the position previously occupied by George Markantonis, president and chief operating officer of Venetian-Palazzo. Wooden is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of both Las Vegas properties and was nominated by the Nevada Resort Association to serve a two year term.
Mesquite City Councilman George Rapson, Chuck Bowling, president and chief operating officer of Mandalay Bay, Tom Jenkin, global president for Caesars Entertainment and Kristin McMillan, president and chief executive officer of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce were all re-appointed to the board.
The LVCVA Board of Directors is comprised of 14 members representing the county, incorporated cities within the county and private citizens on behalf of various segments of the county’s tourism industry. The board’s primary function is to formulate policies to guide the LVCVA in fulfilling its mission of attracting an ever-increasing number of visitors to Southern Nevada.
