TATA MEDICAL CENTRE RUNS FOR A GOOD CAUSE!

CO-PARTNERS WITH ‘FOOTSTEPS 4 GOOD’ TO CREATE AWARENESS ABOUT CANCER

Mumbai, 2012-10-26 — /travelprnews.com/ — Tata Medical Centre in association with ‘Footsteps 4 Good’ organized a marathon for cancer awareness in Mumbai on 2 October, 2012 on Gandhi Jayanti at Bandra Kurla Complex. The marathon was organized to raise funds for charity and create awareness for cancer.

An initiative by Jill Beckingham wife of the British Deputy High Commissioner in Mumbai, ‘Footsteps 4 Good’ selected the Tata Medical Centre to be its main beneficiary for the marathon. Nikhil Raghavan who ran for Tata Medical Centre emerged the prize winner and pledged to donate Rs. 50,000 from the prize amount. Other winners also took a pledge to donate sizeable amounts to charity.

Tata Medical Center (TMC), a 350 crore world class non-profit hospital is a beacon of hope for all the cancer patients. The hospital currently houses 167 beds which are not enough to accommodate the large number of poor patients that require attention. The proceeds of the marathon will go towards creating a corpus for the urgent expansion of the hospital as well as treatment of the under-privileged patients currently in the Center.

Taj Resorts and Palaces also had a team of 50 participants who took part in the marathon along with 900 other participants across several Tata companies like Tata Steel, Tata Power and Tata Communications.

‘Footsteps 4 Good’ is an initiative by Jill Beckingham that follows the 357 km charity walk from Ahmedabad to Dandi, replicating Mahatma Gandhi’s famous march in celebration of his birth celebration each year. Several NGO’s have been a part of this noble initiative.
