Supporting Changemakers: Belfast City Airport Reopens Its Community Fund for 2025

(NEWS) BELFAST, 2025-Nov-24 — /Travel PR News/ — Belfast City Airport has opened applications for its Community Fund, inviting charities, schools, local organisations, and community groups across Greater Belfast, Ards, and North Down to seek financial support for initiatives that meaningfully benefit local residents. The long-running fund, which has distributed more than £700,000 to 237 projects since its launch, continues to serve as one of the airport’s strongest pathways for community engagement and grassroots impact.

Community Fund Ambassador Amy Herdman said the fund reflects the airport’s longstanding commitment to supporting the needs of its neighbours. She highlighted the creativity and dedication demonstrated by previous applicants, noting that each funding round offers a snapshot of the compassion and innovation present within the local community. The airport is particularly encouraging applications from projects that promote environmental stewardship, sustainability, biodiversity, STEM skills, education, social inclusion, health and wellbeing, and sports.

Recent beneficiaries illustrate the diverse impact of the fund. Redeeming Our Communities received support for its school uniform project, enabling the addition of stationery packs for families in need, while Kids Together Belfast expanded its “Music and Me” programme with the help of airport-backed funding. That initiative, aimed at young children with autism, uses structured musical activities to build communication, confidence, and emotional development—an example of the type of work the Community Fund aims to help flourish.

Herdman said the fund is designed to strengthen the social fabric of the region by empowering local groups to deliver services that directly improve lives. “Being a responsible neighbour is at the heart of who we are,” she noted, adding that the fund continues to play a role in building “stronger, healthier, and more inclusive communities.”

Applications for the latest round of funding will remain open until 12 December 2025, with the airport encouraging organisations that deliver tangible community impact to step forward.
