2012-12-05 — /travelprnews.com/ — SSP has expanded its business at Trondheim Airport with the agreement of a significant new deal. SSP will operate six new outlets, as part of a major expansion project at the Norwegian airport. The deal, which is valued at £70 million, will run for five years from Autumn 2013.
The outlets are located in the domestic terminal, and the brands which will feature include coffee shop Caffè Ritazza, Pizza Hut and convenience store Point. An existing Upper Crust bakery will also be refurbished as part of the development.
The airport, whose strap-line is ‘Trondheim meets the world’ wanted the new brand line-up to reflect the notion that the world is getting smaller every day. SSP is helping the company to achieve this aspiration with a selection of offers that are internationally renowned names, but also reflect the flavours of the region. At Upper Crust, for example, we will be serving baguettes filled with a selection of local cheeses.
SSP, which has been working at the airport for nearly 50 years, currently operates four outlets – the Norwegian Aquavit Bar, self-service restaurant Picnic, the Upper Crust and a bar featuring a Point store.
Commenting on the win, Morten Solberg Nilsen, managing director of SSP Norway said; ‘Our relationship with the team at Trondheim stretches back over many decades. Over that time we have proved that we can deliver outstanding retail and food and beverage offers that are both popular with customers as well as commercially successful. Our detailed research into the needs of customers at the airport has enabled us to come up with a mix of brands that offers a complete package that is perfectly suited to the passenger profile at Trondheim.’
