MADRID, SPAIN, 2016-Sep-08 — /Travel PR News/ — In a Madrid ceremony, the Spanish basketball star Pau Gasol, now a player with the San Antonio Spurs in Texas, became “ambassador” of the Iberia brand. Gasol, who also plays on Spain’s national team, will take part in a series of promotional events for the airline.

Iberia said Gasol is an outstanding ambassador not only for his human qualities and success in sports but also for his involvement in social causes. The airline’s sales chief Marco Sansavini commented that the 7 feet (2.13m) tall, 36-year-old Gasol “is one of the world’s best-known Spaniards thanks to his successes in sport and to his social solidarity,” adding that the player “embodies the values that Iberia stands for: talent, drive, and affinity. We are proud to link Iberia’s name to Pau’s.”

At the ceremony Gasol was awarded the exclusive Iberia Singular card which bestows unique privileges on its holders, such as free VIP parking in Madrid and Barcelona airports, an extra luggage allowance, check-in at Business Class counters, fast-track security control, priority boarding,  and admission to more than 650 VIP lounges around the world.
