Shannon, Ireland, 2014-5-2 — /Travel PR News/ — The Chief Executive of Shannon Airport, Neil Pakey, has welcomed the signing of contracts for the M17/M18 Gort-Tuam PPP Project as a significant boost for Shannon Airport and the wider West of Ireland region.
“We very much welcome the signing of contracts and look forward to the completion of the motorway in 2018. Galway is already very important to Shannon for businesses and tourists alike and the motorway link can only reinforce Shannon’s status as an international gateway,” he said.
“We have already seen increases in the number of passengers to and from the West of Dublin using Shannon as a gateway following motorway improvements from there. This decision will enable more people to access Shannon’s existing 37 routes, which in turn will help secure more air services into Shannon.
“We currently offer the Galway market excellent destinations and choice and our ties with Galway will only be strengthened by this very positive news.”
