Airport scores in multiple categories of Airports Council International – North America awards
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, 2021-Nov-10 — /Travel PR News/ — Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA), the foremost advocate for airport operators in North America, has awarded San Francisco International Airport (SFO) multiple first-place awards for its marketing and communication programs.
“We are so proud to be recognized by Airports Council International – North America for our marketing and communications efforts,” said Airport Director Ivar C. Satero. “Now more than ever, communicating effectively with customers and employees is critical, and our Customer Care and Marketing Communications teams found creative and innovative ways to engage with them at the highest level. My thanks go out to our entire airport team for supporting these award-winning initiatives.”
In its annual award event, ACI-NA honored the SFO team as the winner in the following categories:
Special Events: The winner in this category best demonstrates the completion of a unique special event to promote the airport within a community.
- For SFO’s annual State of the Airport event, in which the Airport Director addresses employees on the accomplishments of the past year and previews initiatives and projects for the year to come. This year’s event consisted of a blend of livestream and pre-recorded video segments, aired to both a live and virtual audience of airport employees.
Customer Experience Programs (Large Airports): The winner in this category best demonstrates how new elements to current programs or new programs developed in the customer service arena have significantly enhanced the overall passenger experience at the airport. This award is given in three categories: Large Airport, Medium Airport and Small Airport.
- For SFO’s Travel Well Ambassador program, launched in July 2020 to educate passengers about SFO’s mask mandate and social distancing protocols. The program was comprised of over 100 employees who volunteered for weekly shifts. Identifiable by specially designed blue vests, ambassadors walked airport terminals distributing free masks and cards explaining health and safety protocols.
The awards were announced yesterday at a gala held during the ACI-NA 2021 Marketing and Communications Conference in Reno, Nevada.
In 2020, ACI-NA awarded SFO with its highest honor, the prestigious Peggy G. Hereford Award, after receiving the most first-place wins and honorable mentions across all categories in its 2020 Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Awards. SFO previously received the Peggy G. Hereford award in 2014.
In 2019, SFO achieved three first-place finishes in the awards for Community Education and Outreach, Overall Public Relations Programs and Newsletters.
