Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Capitola Auto Mall Dealer Group sponsored Drive for Schools fundraiser now underway

Santa Cruz, CA, United States, 2013-10-14 — /travelprnews.com/ —  The 2013 Drive for Schools fundraiser is now underway, with more than seventy schools in Santa Cruz County selling tickets for a chance to win a new car or $25,000 in cash, plus dozens of other prizes.

Drive for Schools, sponsored by the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the Capitola Auto Mall Dealer Group, has helped Santa Cruz schools raised $2.3 million dollars since the program started in 2005. Last year was the program’s biggest year, bringing in $493,000 for area schools.  Schools have reported using the much-needed money for art, music, and sports programs as well as to fund science camp attendance. Schools keep 100% of the money they raise during Drive for Schools.

In addition to the grand prize, the Boardwalk and Capitola Auto Mall Dealer Group provide each school with everything needed including tickets, posters, prizes, and support, making the fundraiser easy for school volunteers to administer.

The Grand Prize winner will have the choice of a new Toyota Prius, new Subaru Outback, or $25,000 in cash. Additional prizes include $1,000 gift certificate from Dell Williams, a beach cruiser from Matt Twisselman, Courtside Seats for a Santa Cruz Warriors Game, Golf packages for 4 at Pasatiempo, De LaVeaga, Boulder Creek, and Half Moon Bay Golf Links, and hotel stays at  Monterey Beach Resort, Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley, and gift certificates for Café Cruz, Zocolli’s, Dharma’s, Crow’s Nest or Shadowbrook, and other valuable prizes!

The public can purchase tickets through school volunteers. Tickets cost $5 each or $25 for 6. Ticket sales end October 20. Drive for Schools ticket holders also receive free parking at the Boardwalk for the prize drawing on October 27 at 1pm. Winners need not be present to win.

Last year, tiny Tierra Pacifica Charter School raised the highest amount of any school, bringing in $24,948; Soquel High School was close behind, raising $24,000; Valencia Elementary raised an impressive $20,485.  Other schools bringing in big dollar amounts included Mt. Madonna School ($17,225), Main Street School ($16,200), and DeLaveaga Elementary ($16,179). The winning ticket was purchased through Bonny Doon Elementary.
