San Antonio’s Las Americas Summit Week Provides International Visitors with Leisure and Business Opportunities

SAN ANTONIO, TX, 2012-08-29 — /travelprnews.com/ — The San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau is positioning Las Americas Summit Week (November 15-23, 2012) as an ideal time for Mexico-based visitors to enjoy San Antonio’s great offerings while enhancing their business relationships through networking opportunities. Las Americas Summit Week is set to be an exciting time to visit San Antonio and celebrates the bond between Mexico and America, in a city that is a unique mix of both. Eight days of events will include the NAFTA20 Business Summit, Formula 1 United States Grand Prix and Third Annual Las Americas Golf Tournament.

“San Antonio is a central point of leisure and business exchange for the United States and Mexico. This week in particular, provides us with a great opportunity to share many of our city’s and region’s offerings like the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, NAFTA20 Business Summit, top golf courses, great shopping and numerous family attractions,” notes Casandra Matej, Executive Director of the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau.

An impressive week of events kicks off with the NAFTA20 Business Summit (November 15-16, 2012), presented by Asociacion de Empresarios Mexicanos. The summit celebrates the groundbreaking North American Free Trade Agreement that was signed in San Antonio 20 years ago. Business leaders from Canada, Mexico and the U.S. will participate in panels and keynote presentations on the evolution of NAFTA and its prospects. An emphasis will also be placed on identifying key business trends in various sectors.

Post-NAFTA20, business leaders will enjoy networking at San Antonio’s top attractions, golf courses and shopping destinations. A big draw for international attendees will be the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix (November 16-18) at the all-new Circuit of the Americas complex, the only purpose-built facility in the United States. Located 83 miles from San Antonio’s culture-filled city center and right outside of neighboring Austin, the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix is expected to draw more than 300,000 race enthusiasts from across the globe. This will be the first event in a 10-year contract Formula 1 has with Circuit of the Americas.

One of the week’s pivotal events for networking will be the Las Americas Golf Tournament (November 20, 2012) featuring Mexico’s own Lorena Ochoa. This spectacular event will help to establish San Antonio as a leading golf destination for international visitors.

The week commences with Black Friday (November 23), the nation’s busiest and most-discounted shopping holiday of the year. Tax-free shopping for international visitors is a big draw that helps to support the city’s thriving tourism industry. Promotion of Black Friday in conjunction with the Las Americas Summit Week’s numerous other events, helps the City of San Antonio to target a diverse array of Mexican travelers and builds San Antonio’s reputation as an international travel destination.
