Sabre Employees Engage in 2012 Global ‘Give Together’ Fundraising Campaign

Teams in The Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific aim to raise more than US$1.2 million for charities around the world

SOUTHLAKE, Texas – 2012-10-4 — /travelprnews.com/ — Sabre Holdings (http://sabre.com), a global travel technology company serving the travel and tourism industry, kicks off its annual Give Together fundraising campaign this week. Launched in 2000 and held in all Sabre offices around the world, the annual week-long community event sees offices host fundraising activities to raise funds for charitable organizations in the communities where Sabre employees live and work. All funds raised are donated to local charities selected by Sabre employees.

“It is part of our culture to give back. Our entire employee team is passionate about participating in Give Together, and our volunteer program, Give Time Together which took place earlier this year”, said Sam Gilliland, Chairman and CEO of Sabre Holdings. “Fundraising initiatives are expected of companies our size, but what makes our program different is the genuine passion, interest and engagement our employees have for our giving activities and the charities we support.  It really is a fun and exciting week, and it makes me fiercely proud to lead a company so committed to the needs of our community.”

With more than 3200 employees in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, teams are participating in activities such as a talent show, 5k Fun Run, a Sabre Office Olympics benefitting Special Olympics and an online auction benefitting the local Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In addition, employees are also trying to raise $79,000 to fund the building of a Habitat for Humanity House next spring during the company’s Give Time Together campaign. During its annual golf tournament this week, Sabre employees raised $40,000 of the funds needed for the Habitat house.

Last year, employee donations combined with Sabre’s match exceeded US$1 million, with every dollar going to global charities. This year, the company hopes to exceed its efforts from last year, raising more than $1.2 million.

Employees in the US and various other locations including the UK, Poland, Uruguay, Argentina and Australia also have the option of making a personal contribution to the charity of their choice through payroll deduction or credit card.  Historically, Sabre puts forth a company “match” to each of the donations made.

Since 2000 Give Together has raised over $16 million dollars for various nonprofit organizations and our employees have logged over 240,000 volunteer hours for charities around the globe. Many charities rely on the funds raised from Give Together to support their ongoing programs and pay for the day to day costs associated with running a non-profit.  Earlier this year, Sabre’s Give Time Together global volunteer program saw employees contribute 32,000 hours for more than 200 organizations.
