MESA, Ariz., 2012-07-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — City of Mesa Mayor Scott Smith was elected as the chair of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority at the July 16 board meeting.
Gila River Indian Community Lt. Governor Joseph Manuel will serve as vice-chair, Town of Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney will serve as secretary, City of Phoenix Vice Mayor Thelda Williams will serve as treasurer, and Town of Gilbert Mayor John Lewis will serve as director.
“Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport has gone through tremendous growth and expansion and has truly arrived as a major transportation center in the valley. It is quite an honor to serve again as Chair of the Airport Authority Board as Gateway will continue to add gates, flights and new destinations in the next year.”
The Airport Authority elects the chair and other officers from the five board members on an annual basis. The next board meeting will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 17 at the Airport’s Administration Building, 5835 S. Sossaman Road, Mesa, Arizona. Meetings are open to the public.
