NEW UNIFORM TO MARK TRANSASIA AIRWAYS’ EXCITING NEW CHAPTER FOR THE LEADING TAIWANESE AIRLINE

Retro Design pays homage to the airline’s history

Singapore, 2012-08-02 — /travelprnews.com/ — As part of its on-going service upgrade initiative unveiled last month, TransAsia Airways today announced the launch of its new uniform, for its over 500 cabin crew and ground staff, including maintenance staff, across all of its domestic and international routes.

The new uniform design was overseen by renowned Taiwanese fashion designer, Mr Yin Pei Gun, who gained his reputation while working with Taiwan high fashion brand SHIATZY. On his inspiration for the design, Mr Yin said: “I was influenced by the fashion trend of the 50s, which is the period when TransAsia Airways was established. I wanted the new uniform to reinforce the passion and belief upon which the airline was found and for this to be reflected not just to the airline staff but also to the passengers in a bid to propel the company forward.”

“Our focus was also to achieve both functionality as well as design. In term of functionality, shapememory fabrics were used to create a new trench coat for cabin crew which provide convenience; while the uniform for aircraft maintenance staff has a finishing which provides additional protection as well as being more comfortable to work in.”

The dark blue uniforms with purple stripes also reflect TransAsia Airways’ corporate colours, and the male uniforms will include branding in the form of an emblazoned logo on their silk tie.

TransAsia Airways’ Chairman Vincent M. Lin, who was closely involved in the conceptualisation of the uniforms, commented: “This is the first new uniform design introduced by our airline in over 10 years. It is part of our corporate effort to offer a revitalised flight experience to our passengers and it also signifies a new chapter in the airline’s history. The new uniforms will help to showcase a more vibrant and amiable TransAsia Airways.”

TransAsia Airways operates a full service daily flight between Taipei and Singapore using a 150-seat Airbus A320 with a total of 2,100 seats per week.
