Highlights include overnight stays in major cities, culturally rich destinations across Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam, and festive holiday sailings. (PRESS RELEASE) SHANGHAI, 2026-Apr-15 — /Travel PR News/ — Royal Caribbean International has introduced a comprehensive new lineup of China-based sailings for the 2027–2028 season, expanding its footprint across Asia with a broader range of itineraries and destinations. Centered around the cruise ship Spectrum of the Seas, the program features voyages spanning 3 to 11 nights and covering a record 22 destinations, offering travelers a mix of short escapes, extended journeys, and seasonal experiences across the region.
Departing primarily from Shanghai and Hong Kong, with select sailings connected to Tokyo, the new itineraries allow guests to explore some of Asia’s most sought-after destinations. These include cultural and natural highlights such as Sapporo (Muroran) in Japan, Jeju (Seogwipo) and Busan in South Korea, and Vietnam’s historic hubs of Da Nang (Chan May) and Hue, alongside iconic landmarks like Mount Fuji.
Benjamin Bouldin stated that the expanded offering reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to the China market and its focus on delivering more varied and immersive travel experiences. The new sailings are designed to cater to evolving traveler preferences, particularly among Chinese vacationers seeking deeper connections and more meaningful shared experiences, while also making it easier for international guests to explore Asia through convenient regional departures.
A key highlight of the program is the introduction of longer, more immersive journeys lasting between 8 and 10 nights. These itineraries enable travelers to visit multiple destinations in a single voyage and, for the first time, include one-way sailings between major cities such as Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. This added flexibility allows guests to combine cruise travel with extended stays on land.
Seasonal experiences play a central role in the lineup. Spring voyages in May 2027 focus on the region’s blooming landscapes, from peony gardens in Beijing to wisteria in Fukuoka and hydrangeas in Jeju. Autumn itineraries in October highlight foliage across destinations such as Seoul (Incheon) and Sapporo, while select cruises include overnight stays in major cities like Osaka and Tokyo, giving travelers more time to explore urban culture and attractions.
For those seeking shorter breaks, the lineup also includes 3- to 4-night getaways from Shanghai and Hong Kong to nearby island destinations. These itineraries feature visits to natural landmarks such as Cheonjiyeon Falls in Jeju and culinary experiences in Busan, known for its seafood markets. Additionally, 5- to 8-night summer cruises provide access to vibrant destinations including Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, and Jeju, blending cultural exploration with seasonal leisure activities.
Holiday sailings departing from Hong Kong further expand the offering, with dedicated itineraries for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year celebrations. These voyages combine festive onboard programming with visits to destinations such as Busan, Nagasaki, Kagoshima, and Okinawa, while also offering seasonal experiences like whale watching and early cherry blossom viewing.
Onboard Spectrum of the Seas, guests can enjoy a wide array of entertainment and recreational facilities, including the North Star observation capsule, RipCord by iFly skydiving simulator, rock climbing, and the SeaPlex activity complex. Dining options feature a mix of international and regionally inspired cuisine, catering to a wide range of tastes. Designed with families in mind, the ship offers dedicated spaces for children, relaxation areas for adults, and childcare services to enhance the overall vacation experience.
Bookings for the 2027–2028 Asia sailings are now open, providing travelers with expanded opportunities to explore the region through a diverse and flexible range of cruise experiences.
