New Music Festival Hits the Stage in Palm Springs

Palm Springs, CA, 2013-04-05 — /travelprnews.com/ — Passion Pit, an indie band with one of the biggest hits in the country right now, will headline Tachevah: A Palm Springs Block Party, a new open-air concert scheduled April 17, 2013 between the two Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival weekends. Over 7,500 people are expected to attend the block party starting at 5 p.m. featuring two beer gardens and 10 vendor booths. Tachevah is presented by Goldenvoice, The Desert Sun, PS Resorts, Harold Matzner and the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.

The free block party will take place outside of the Spa Resort Casino featuring three emerging bands from the Coachella Valley who were selected to perform after readers on mydesert.com cast more than 95,000 votes for music videos submitted by 83 bands from across the nation. The Pedestrians, Tribesmen, and You Me & Us will open for Passion Pit, and two-time Coachella performer DJ Alf Alpha will keep the groove going between the 30-minute sets.

Passion Pit’s current hit, “Carried Away,” recently spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Alt-Nation weekly countdown on Sirius satellite radio. Its latest album, “Gossamer,” debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 last year and also produced the radio hit, “Take A Walk.” The band played “Saturday Night Live” in February and the Hollywood Bowl in September. They’ll also perform at Goldenvoice’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on the weekends before and after Tachevah.

During the month of April, music lovers will also be attending an eclectic mix of concerts, festivals and parties ranging from jazz to electronica to indie rock. Signature festivals include The Dinah, Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival, Opera in the Park, Coachella Valley Music Festival, Stagecoach Country Music Festival, and Brew at the Zoo.
