(PRESS RELEASE) INDIANAPOLIS, 2025-May-5 — /Travel PR News/ — Aer Lingus celebrated its new nonstop transatlantic service from Dublin to Indianapolis with a lively event at Gate A4 at Indianapolis International Airport (IND) on the evening of May 3, 2025. The aircraft from Dublin Airport (DUB) arrived early in the evening, bringing passengers from Ireland, while the return flight took off around 8 p.m., filled with excited Hoosiers heading to the Emerald Isle.

The event featured an immersive Ireland-themed experience, with Irish culture showcased through live music, dance, and appearances by key speakers. The celebrations reflected the culmination of five years of efforts by the Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) to secure this direct connection between Indy and Ireland.

“This is a big day for our team here at the Indy airport,” said Mario Rodriguez, Executive Director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “Securing this nonstop flight to Dublin is the result of years of collaboration, and it enhances our airport’s standing as a key gateway for both business and leisure travel.”

The ceremony also included Aer Lingus’ participation at the Indiana University Health Foundation’s Rev event, where guests enjoyed a green carpet entrance and Aer Lingus-themed photo opportunities, continuing the festive atmosphere.

Megan Carrico, Senior Director of Public Affairs at the IAA, added, “Rolling out the green carpet at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Aer Lingus for this historic flight is a perfect way to celebrate. This new route brings Indy closer to Europe and strengthens our global ties.”

The direct flight between Indianapolis and Dublin provides Hoosiers and businesses in Indiana easy access to Ireland and numerous major cities across Europe and the UK, including Paris, London, Frankfurt, Rome, and Amsterdam.

Lynne Embleton, Chief Executive Officer of Aer Lingus, stated, “The introduction of this direct flight between Indianapolis and Dublin marks a significant milestone for Aer Lingus, expanding our transatlantic network to 24 routes. This new service solidifies our commitment to strengthening business, cultural, and sporting ties across the Atlantic.”

As part of the convenience for travelers, Dublin Airport is one of only two airports in Europe to offer U.S. preclearance services, allowing passengers on Aer Lingus’ nonstop flights to the U.S. to complete immigration and customs procedures before departure, making their arrival in Indianapolis smoother and faster.

Indiana’s Growing Economic and Cultural Ties to Ireland

The new flight also aligns with Indiana’s strong economic connection to Ireland. Recent air service studies show that an average of 545 people from the Indianapolis area travel to European destinations daily. The addition of the Dublin route is expected to have a $50 million annual impact on Indiana’s economy.

Indiana’s business ties to Ireland are further evidenced by Eli Lilly’s $1.8 billion investment in their Irish facilities and the 52 Ireland-based businesses that already operate in the state.

“This new connection will open up exciting opportunities for Indiana’s economy, tourism, and businesses, creating pathways for growth and innovation,” said Indiana Secretary of Commerce David Adams. “The timing of this launch, during the iconic Indy 500 month, adds even more significance to our celebration of this new route.”
