National Crisis Exercise at Oslo Airport: Air Traffic Will Run Normally
2012-10-26 — /travelprnews.com/ — Exercise Tyr (Øvelse Tyr), the Norwegian Police Service’s annual national crisis response exercise, will take place in the Oslo area from 31 October to 1 November this year.
The exercise will focus on both criminal activity and terrorism. Although many aspects of the exercise will be carried out at Oslo Airport, the airport’s management team will strive to ensure that airport operations will run as normal, with little if any disruption.
Exercise Tyr is a large full-scale emergency training exercise. The Norwegian Police Service will concentrate on their ability to coordinate operations with the Norwegian Armed Forces and other emergency services. Oslo Airport will concentrate on keeping flights on schedule and giving travellers the best service possible. Minor travel delays may occur, and if they do, Oslo Airport asks travellers for their patience and understanding. It is important that all travellers follow the instructions and information given by the Police, Armed Forces and Oslo Airport. Please check your flight status through your airline.
“It is important to test emergency preparedness throughout the airport and we will do all we can to ensure a good exercise. At the same time, it is our goal to operate the airport as normal,” says Vegar Gystad, Head of Media Relations for Oslo Airport.
