Monarch Hosts Ski Festival in Yorkshire

2012-09-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — To celebrate the launch of flights from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA)  to the popular ski routes of Munich and Grenoble, Monarch Airlines brought a taste of the Alps to Yorkshire with a specially themed Ski Festival hosted by Monarch’s brand ambassador and champion British Skier, Chemmy Alcott.

Regional members of the Ski Club of Great Britain and VIP guests took part in a fun filled evening with free style skiing demonstrations and exhilarating head to head challenges with Chemmy at the SNO!zone in Castleford. Chemmy is currently training for the forthcoming World Championships in Schladming.

When the skiing finished guests gathered for an après-ski party on the foot of the slopes where an authentic Schuss Bar served traditional Alpine food and drink.

Beginning in December 2012, the scheduled airline will commence operations from LBA with flights to Grenoble to Munich. Both airports are famed for their excellent links to ski resorts covering in the French and Bavarian Alps.

Managing Director of Monarch Airlines, Kevin George, commented: “As Britain’s leading skier, we are proud to have Chemmy Alcott associated with Monarch as we launch our new scheduled ski routes for this winter from Leeds Bradford Airport.  We hope Monarch’s Ski Festival will inspire both experienced and novice skiers in Yorkshire to take to the slopes.”

Leeds Bradford Airport’s Commercial Director, Tony Hallwood, said: “Munich and Grenoble are ideally situated for easy access to the Alps and a wide variety of premier ski resorts.  As well as skiing and snowboarding the Apres-Ski is also excellent with great bars and restaurants to choose from. Both destinations will cater perfectly for skiers of all abilities.”
