Hamburg, Germany, 2018-Feb-19 — /Travel PR News/ — US carrier United Airlines has now stationed a Boeing 757-200 at “Knuffingen Airport” at Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg. The aircraft has now set off on its maiden flight. A video of the event is available at https://youtu.be/qF2cIbmzSsg.
“We are delighted to welcome United Airlines at our miniature airport. Knuffingen Airport can now also offer transatlantic flights to our small Wunderlandians,” says Gerrit Braun, founder of Miniatur Wunderland.
The US airline has a close relationship with the city. Since 2005, United has operated a non-stop service from Hamburg to Newark Liberty International Airport. The seasonal daily service will resume on 26 April, 2018. “We are delighted that a United Boeing 757-200 is now also entering operation at the miniature airport,” says Wolfgang Manner, Country Sales Manager Germany at United Airlines. “To date, we have welcomed well over a million passengers on more than 7,000 flights on our Hamburg-New York/Newark route. Now even more people can enjoy a United flight — even if it is just as a visitor to Miniatur Wunderland.”
“Knuffingen Airport is one Boeing 757 richer. We are thrilled that visitors to Miniatur Wunderland can now watch United Airlines taking off and landing,” says Anja Compton, Deputy Director of Aviation Marketing at Hamburg Airport. “Offering its direct service from Hamburg to New York for almost 13 years now, United is a reliable partner of Hamburg Airport. This demonstrates the great success and continuity of the route. Both holiday and business travellers benefit from the comfortable non-stop summer service.”
Miniatur Wunderland attracts more than 1.4 million visitors every year. “Knuffingen Airport” opened in May 2011 and has been expanding continually ever since.
