2012-12-07 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Manila Hotel, the Grand Dame of the Philippines, was named one of the top 20 hotels in Southeast Asia in a poll conducted by Condé Nast Traveler. The Hotel earned a rating of 82.5 from the 46,476 readers for the 2012 Readers’ Choice Awards securely placing on the list’s anchor position (No. 20).This award is another milestone in the Hotel’s illustrious history.
Built in 1912 under the supervision of William Parsons, the Manila Hotel was the first five-star hotel in the Philippines. Dubbed as the Address of Prestige in the Far East, the Manila Hotel has been home to notable personalities including Gen. Douglas MacArthur, US Presidents Lyndon Jonson, Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, their Royal Highnesses Edward and Charles Princes of Wales, Ernest Hemingway, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson.
This year’s Readers’ Choice Awards is also in celebration of Condé Nast Traveler’s 25th annual survey. As part of the list, Manila Hotel joined other top Southeast Asian Hotels including The Ritz Carlton in Singapore and Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor in Siem Reap.
