Maldives won three awards at the National Dive Travel Awards at the Marine Dive Fair held in Japan, Tokyo

MALDIVES, 2015-4-6 — /Travel PR News/ — Maldives has won three awards at the National Dive Travel Awards, at the Marine Dive Fair held in Japan , Tokyo from 3-5 April 2015.

Maldives was once again selected as the “Best Dream Destination” at the Marine Diving Awards 2015. This is the 15th consecutive time that the Japanese divers have selected Maldives as their preferred dream destination. The Maldives also won second place in the “Best Diving Destination” category and the second place as the preferred “Liveaboard Destination”.

The Maldives Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Mr. Ahmed Khaleel was the Chief Guest at the Opening Ceremony of the Fair. In his speech, Ambassador Khaleel spoke of the threats faced by coral reefs around the world due to climate change and reiterated the importance of working together to protect and preserve the coral reefs of the world. He also used the opportunity to thank the Japanese Government for its continued global leadership in environmental protection.

Together with Maldives Marketing & Public Relation Corporation (MMPRC) 4 partners from the Maldives tourism industry namely SunSiyam Resorts, Bandos Island Resort &Spa,Bathala Island Resort and Summer Island Maldives are participating in the fair representing Maldives.

Japan is the third largest market from the Asia and Pacific region to the Maldives. In the year 2014, Maldives recorded 38,817 arrivals from Japan.In the first two months of year 2015 Maldives received a total of 5,966 Japanese arrivals. Japan is one of the top markets to the destination accounting for 2.7% of the total market share.
