Lufthansa sponsor of European Wheelchair Basketball Championship 2013

Because in business competition it is scarcely any different to sporting competition. What counts are strength and condition, technology and speed. Lufthansa too goes to the start with the aim of getting just that little bit better. So it is no mere coincidence that the company has been a partner of sports for many years now.

As a co-sponsor of the German Disabled Sports Federation and one of the largest employers in the Rhine-Main region, the Lufthansa Group is now supporting the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship in 2013 as a partner. The sporting highlight is being organized by the German Wheelchair Sports Federation and will be played in the barrier-free Frankfurt Eissporthalle (ice sports arena) before up to 7,000 spectators.

From 28th June to 7th July, the eight best women’s teams and twelve men’s teams will battle for the titles. Of course, the German women’s team, which won the first Paralympics gold medal in London since 1984, will be one of the competing teams.

Lufthansa and sport – that not only includes the top-class athletes. The group also supports the athletes within its own ranks, who are organized in the Lufthansa sports clubs. And, of course, it is also at the service of the many fans who support their teams all over the world today.

Lufthansa’s commitment to sport is, therefore, not only a commitment to a willingness to perform in competition, but also a commitment to the company’s social responsibility.
