London City Airport welcomes Loganair's new route between Shetland Islands and London
London, UK, 2022-May-11 — /Travel PR News/ — The first direct service from London City Airport to Shetland has taken off today (9 May), connecting Londoners with Britain’s most northerly archipelago.
What is now the fastest way to travel to the Shetland Islands from London, the new route operated by Loganair (the UK’s largest regional airline), operates twice per week on Mondays and Thursdays, taking just over 3 hours. The flight briefly touches down in Dundee, providing further connectivity with Dundee Airport, however passengers are not required to disembark the aircraft.
To celebrate the launch, further to Loganair’s usual complimentary in-flight service – the first customers were also treated to a Shetland speciality known as “Puffin Poo”. The chocolate and coconut sweet is made in Shetland which, according to the National Geographic, is the best destination for puffin watching.
Loganair has been working closely with the Shetland tourism organisation, Promote Shetland, to highlight the islands leisure offering and the increasing air connectivity from around the UK. Adam Civico, Head of Content Marketing at Promote Shetland, and Nickesh Patel, Brand Marketing Manager at London City Airport joined the first flight to mark the launch.
