London City Airport Appoints New Director Of Planning

2013-02-07 — /travelprnews.com/ — London City Airport [LCY] has appointed Rachel Ness as Director of Infrastructure, Strategy and Planning, strengthening its management team ahead of submitting an application to develop its infrastructure. Rachel joins from Covanta Energy where she was Director of Planning.

A qualified planner with a wealth of experience gained over nearly 20 years, Rachel will be responsible for leading the planning process for the City Airport Development Programme, designed to enable the airport to reach its permitted number of annual flight movements. The plans include building new stands for parked aircraft and a new parallel taxilane, to enable more take-offs and landings per hour.

Patrick Burrows, Chief Financial Officer at London City Airport said: “Rachel joins us at an exciting time and will take the lead on bringing our expansion plans to life. Growing the airport will mean more jobs for local people and will help to attract more investment in the local area and wider East London region.”

Rachel’s experience includes managing plans for complex waste incinerator power stations, resulting in inward investment totalling more than £900 million for the areas in which they were located. She also managed the successful delivery of planning permission for the energy from waste power station now operating in the London borough of Bexley, adjacent to the River Thames.

She said: “I’m thrilled to have joined the team at London City Airport and am looking forward to steering the business through the challenges and opportunities that a complex planning process presents, to secure a successful outcome.”
