Liverpool John Lennon Airport takes part at the 20th World Route Development Forum in Chicago

Liverpool, UK, 2014-9-25 — /Travel PR News/ — Senior Management from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) are in North America this week to meet with airlines from across the globe at the 20th World Route Development Forum, being held in Chicago.

The event is an annual global gathering of the world’s top airlines and airports and is seen as the meeting place for the world’s airport/airline route development industry, with around 300 airlines, 800 airports and 3,000 delegates attending.

Often described as ‘speed dating’ for airports and airlines, airports have the opportunity to meet with airlines for 20 minutes before moving on to their next meeting. The event is viewed as one of the most cost effective ways to build relationships with airlines from all over the world and to promote the Airport and the City Region to the aviation industry.

It was at the European equivalent event in April, that Airport Management had the opportunity to meet with Romanian airline Blue Air for the first time. Following subsequent discussions, the airline recently announced a three times weekly service from Liverpool to Bucharest, starting in December 2014.

With 25 meetings already planned the Airport will be looking to explore opportunities for potential feeder services to open up worldwide access via a hub airport, along with other new direct scheduled services.
