45th annual Run for the Zoo on June 4, registration now open
CHICAGO, IL, 2023-Jan-22 — /Travel PR News/ — Ever wanted to take a walk on the wild side? Here is your chance at Lincoln Park Zoo’s annual Run for the Zoo on June 4! The event is a Chicago favorite, a family-friendly tradition that raises funds to support animal care and save species. This year, the zoo hopes to raise $45,000 of species-saving funds in honor of its 45th year of Run for the Zoo.
The event is made for everyone and all abilities, from ambitious athletes taking on the offered U.S.A Track & Field-certified 5K and 10K courses, to families looking to enjoy a fun run or walk that accommodates every member of their group. Children between ages 3-8 can also take on the Kids’ Course, a fun obstacle course built to have children running, climbing, and crawling.
All proceeds from the race help keep Lincoln Park Zoo free and open to all, as well as support the zoo’s world-class animal care and global conservation efforts.
Participants can also earn prizes for creating teams and raising funds for the zoo. Partner with coworkers, friends, or family to take on Run for the Zoo together.
“Run for the Zoo is an annual tradition for many Chicagoans. We are excited to welcome back longtime supporters as well as many new faces this year,” said Gretchen Kirchmer, Director of Marketing and Events. “The race truly is an experience like no other, participants get to race through the zoo while seeing the animals and the beautiful views of the Chicago skyline. Run for the Zoo is just one way we can connect the zoo community with the city of Chicago.”
Participants and supporters who donate or fundraise a minimum of $25 will earn a commemorative supporter medal, and additional prizes will be announced soon.
After the race, participants can partake in a fun and inclusive post-race celebration. All participants also receive unique swag including a commemorative tech t-shirt, this year featuring the Jamaican iguana.
Race options vary in price, starting at $39 for the 5K run/walk, $44 for the 10k run, and $25 for the Kids’ Course. Lincoln Park Zoo members receive a $5 discount on the 5K and 10K packages. Not a member? Visit lpzoo.org/membership.
