JERSEY, 2016-Jan-22 — /Travel PR News/ — The Acorn Jersey Open has been confirmed for the 2016 European Senior Tour and will return to La Moye Golf Club from Wednesday 8th to Saturday 11th June. The tournament is Jersey’s major professional sporting event on the 2016 calendar and will bring multiple benefits to the Island; giving local residents of all ages the chance to play, spectate and/or volunteer over the three days.
The £200,000 prize fund will once again be contested in a pro-am format, with each professional joined by an amateur partner for three rounds before the professionals play their final round on the Saturday of the tournament.

Staging such a prestigious event will benefit the local community and tourism industry at the start of the main holiday season. And the Tour’s commitment to showcase golf to local groups during the Open, through dedicated events targeted at keen young golfers and novice school children, coupled with an open invitation for anyone to come and spectate over the three days, adds to the community benefits.”

The professional and celebrity player list will be released in the coming months. Australian Peter Fowler is set to defend the title he won last year, finishing one stroke clear of Anders Forsbrand before going on to triumph the following week in the ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship.
