(IN SHORT) IHG Hotels & Resorts will introduce the InterContinental brand in Cape Town with the signing of InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town, set to open in late 2025 after a multimillion-dollar refurbishment. The historic Table Bay Hotel, located in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and inaugurated by Nelson Mandela in 1997, will feature 306 rooms, 45 new guest suites, an elevated pool bar, a signature spa, and an Executive Loyalty Club Floor and Lounge. Managed by Sun International, the redeveloped hotel aims to elevate its status and attract more international visitors, enhancing Cape Town’s tourism appeal while maintaining its legacy of luxury hospitality.

(PRESS RELEASE) Cape Town, South Africa, 2024-Jul-2— /Travel PR News/ — The debut of the InterContinental brand in Cape Town has been officially announced by IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, with the signing of InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town. This development marks a significant milestone in IHG’s luxury portfolio.

Originally inaugurated in May 1997 by former South African president Nelson Mandela, the iconic Table Bay Hotel has set the benchmark for world-class hospitality. Situated in the heart of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, the oldest working harbour in the Southern Hemisphere, the hotel has long been recognized as one of the city’s premier luxury properties.

Scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2025 following a multimillion-dollar redevelopment by the V & A Waterfront, the hotel will be managed by Sun International under a hotel management agreement.

Under IHG’s luxury brand, InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town will become the latest member of the global IHG One Rewards loyalty program. The hotel will feature 306 rooms, including 45 new guest suites with unparalleled views of the harbour, Table Mountain, and the Atlantic Ocean. Guests can look forward to a new elevated pool bar and terrace, a signature spa, and an Intercontinental Executive Loyalty Club Floor and Lounge. All reception areas and restaurants will also be reimagined.
