Kanazawa, Japan, 2014-3-13 — /Travel PR News/ — InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened the 101-room ANA Holiday Inn Kanazawa Sky, the company’s second hotel in the historically-rich area. The conversion hotel benefits from a prime position in the middle of Kanazawa, a city which is revered as one of the most beautiful in Japan.
Situated in Kanazawa’s commercial district, ANA Holiday Inn Kanazawa Sky is walking distance from the city’s downtown area and the main train station. It is also close to popular tourist attractions, including Kenrokuen Garden, which is hundreds of years old and is one of the ‘Three Great Gardens of Japan’.
With the lobby situated on the building’s 16th floor, guests are welcomed by a panoramic view of the cityscape as soon as they walk out of the elevator, including landmarks such as the 400-year old Kanazawa Castle – the previous residence of Samurai soldiers and their families – and the Hakusan Mountains to the south of the city.
Fergus Stewart, Head of Japan, IHG said: “Kanazawa is a city which is becoming increasingly accessible for leisure travelers and with the new Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet train scheduled to start service in early 2015, we are confident that this trend will continue. The city is brimming full of history and culture, with plenty to see and do for both group tours and independent travelers, domestic and international guests alike. We already have ANA Crowne Plaza Kanazawa so it is fantastic to add to and diversify our hotels in a city which is so full of potential.”
Formerly the Kanazawa Sky Hotel, the property went through an extensive refurbishment to meet the standards of the Holiday Inn brand, with nods to the design aesthetic of the Kanazawa area, including the use of dark shades of wood and authentic, locally-sourced materials.
In addition to the hotel’s refurbishment, guests can expect the friendly welcome, and the comfort and convenience that the Holiday Inn brand is renowned for: high quality bedding with a choice of firm and soft pillows and wide-screen televisions in the rooms, and bathrooms with multi-function showerheads and stocked with environmentally friendly amenities.
With a total of three restaurants, the hotel offers its guests a variety of cuisines to choose from. Kenroku, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant plates up both Eastern and Western dishes using fresh ingredients, including seafood sourced straight from the city’s famous local market, Oumicho Ichiba. Hoh-Oh, the hotel’s Sichuan specialty restaurant, combines excellent service with scenic city views and the option of private dining rooms. Holiday Inn’s ‘Kids Stay and Eat Free’ programme helps make family holidays more manageable with up to children under the age of 12 eating for free when dining with two adults in either Hoh-Oh or Kenroku.
