(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, Spain, 2025-Jun-3 — /Travel PR News/ — Iberia has renewed its support for 14 Olympic and Paralympic athletes as part of its Talento a Bordo initiative, helping them pursue their dreams of competing at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. The airline continues its role as a proud partner of Spanish sports, offering both financial assistance and travel support to the athletes throughout the four-year Olympic cycle.

Joining the Iberia Talento a Bordo Team are top athletes such as María Pérez, one of Spain’s most celebrated athletes at the Paris 2024 Games, where she won both a gold and a silver medal in athletics, and Bea Ortiz, the gold medalist and world’s best water polo player in 2024. These new additions join nine existing team members who were already part of Iberia’s journey of sporting excellence.

The athletes represent ten different disciplines, ranging from athletics and water polo to para-cycling and rowing, reflecting Iberia’s diverse support for both able-bodied and Paralympic competitors. The new team members include Sara Andrés (para-athletics), Alfonso Cabello (para-cycling), Bea Ortiz (water polo), as well as established athletes such as Adriana Cerezo (taekwondo), Rodrigo Conde (rowing), and Marcus Cooper (canoeing), among others.

“I’m incredibly excited to be part of the Iberia Talento a Bordo Team,” said Alfonso Cabello, a newly selected athlete who won silver and bronze at the Paris 2024 Games. “Being surrounded by such champions is a dream come true, and I’m eager to continue working towards Los Angeles 2028 with Iberia’s support.”

Bea Ortiz, the world’s best water polo player, echoed the sentiment, saying, “It’s an honor to share this journey with such incredible athletes. Iberia’s support gives us peace of mind and confidence, knowing that a company like Iberia believes in our dreams.”

The athletes will receive a grant and complimentary airline travel as part of the support over the course of their journey to the 2028 Games. In addition, each athlete will enjoy the benefits of the Iberia Plus Gold card, providing them with priority services and enhanced travel perks.

Marcus Cooper, the former flag bearer of the Spanish delegation at the Paris Games, celebrated the shared values between Iberia and the athletes, saying, “We are proud to partner with a company that helps us reach new heights, both literally and metaphorically.”

The new team members were introduced at Espacio Iberia, the airline’s pop-up space in Madrid, where the airline showcases onboard innovations and exclusive services available to its customers. The event was attended by Juan Cierco, Iberia’s Corporate Director, and Pau Gasol, the renowned basketball player and Iberia’s cultural change ambassador.

“Iberia is proud to support this incredible team of athletes. While some of these sports may not always get mainstream media attention, the passion and dedication these athletes show is truly inspiring,” said Pau Gasol. He added, “I’m thrilled to be part of this initiative, and I’m sure these athletes will carry Spain to the top at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.”

Juan Cierco also expressed his pride in the partnership, noting, “It’s an honor to support this magnificent group of athletes, and we are confident that they will bring Spain success on the world stage in Los Angeles.”
