Hospitality leader Ranju Alex takes helm at Accor South Asia amid expansion and InterGlobe partnership
(NEWS) PARIS, 2025-Aug-27 — /Travel PR News/ — Accor has strengthened its leadership team in South Asia with the appointment of Ranju Alex as Chief Executive Officer for the region, covering India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The Paris-based hospitality group, which currently operates over 70 hotels in South Asia with more than 30 in the pipeline, sees this as a pivotal step in advancing its growth and business strategy in one of the world’s most dynamic travel markets.
Ranju Alex is a seasoned hotelier with over three decades of experience. Prior to joining Accor, she served as Regional Vice President for South Asia at Marriott International, where she managed a portfolio of more than 170 hotels across the region. Her career began in 1993 with The Oberoi Group, and she has since held multiple senior leadership roles that have shaped her reputation as one of the industry’s most respected figures. In recognition of her contributions, she was recently honored with the Bharat Gaurav award, a distinction celebrating her leadership and achievements in the hospitality sector.
Her appointment follows the announcement earlier this year of a proposed joint venture between Accor and InterGlobe Enterprises, which aims to consolidate their hospitality businesses under a single platform, pending regulatory approval. This partnership is expected to create one of the most significant hospitality entities in the region, with Ranju Alex at the helm driving strategy and expansion.
Welcoming the appointment, Gaurav Bhushan, Chairman of the proposed Accor/InterGlobe joint venture, said that Ranju’s extensive experience, industry relationships, and leadership skills will play a critical role in shaping the region’s most prominent hospitality platform. Ranju Alex expressed enthusiasm about her new role, highlighting Accor’s diverse brand portfolio and reaffirming her commitment to lead the group’s vision in South Asia.
Accor, with more than 5,700 properties across 110 countries, continues to expand its global presence with a portfolio spanning over 45 brands from luxury to economy. InterGlobe Enterprises, best known for its leadership in aviation through IndiGo, also plays a strong role in the hospitality and travel ecosystem. Together, both groups aim to redefine hospitality standards in South Asia under Alex’s leadership.
