Hilton Palacio del Rio Completes Phase Two of $34 Million Renovation

Iconic River Walk Hotel Unveils New Meeting Space September 17, 2012

SAN ANTONIO, Tx., 2012-09-11 — /travelprnews.com/ — After 44 years of being the most recognized building in the San Antonio skyline, Hilton Palacio del Rio is pleased to announce the completion of its latest transformation. With an eye towards pleasing the savvy meeting and convention planner, the hotel has completed the second phase of its $34 million makeover.

“It is exciting to offer an enhanced meeting experience for our group visitors,” said Brian Getman, director of sales and marketing, Hilton Palacio del Rio. “It only adds to the appeal of our iconic hotel and the new stylish décor, technology and service enhancements will exceed the expectations of today’s meeting planner.”

The $7 million update to the hotel’s 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space will be completed September 17, 2012. Floor-to-ceiling windows were installed in the Salon del Rey ballroom to allow maximum natural light. Technology upgrades include a state-of-the-art digital signage system, virtual concierge, new PORT Technology elevator system and sound and lighting improvements. Local art and distinctly contemporary furnishings bring an esthetic consistency throughout all of the public spaces in the hotel.

Satisfying the busy meeting planner, upgrades in service include the opening of The UPS Store on the hotel lobby level. Meeting planners and business travelers will have the convenience of shipping, postal, document and business services right in the hotel.

Part of Hilton Palacio del Rio’s $34 million extensive transformation includes the newly completed guest room renovation. All 485 guest rooms in the 21-story Hilton Palacio del Rio have emerged with a sophisticated and modern style, while staying true to its South Texas setting. To satisfy the busy business traveler, upgrades in technology include high-speed wireless internet, connectivity centers, and 37″ plasma HD televisions.

“We are committed to continued innovation and relevance through design, services and amenities as we elevate the guest experience. The exciting re-design at Hilton Palacio del Rio will further elevate the hotel as a leading destination,” said Robert Thrailkill, general manager, Hilton Palacio del Rio.

The renovation is part of a larger scope of major projects by individual hotels above standard annual capital expenditures across the global portfolio of Hilton Hotels & Resorts, the flagship brand of Hilton Worldwide. Beginning in 2011, the projects currently total more than $3 billion during a three-year period.
