Entertainment & Culinary Honored During IAPPA Brass Ring Awards

Hershey, PA, 2015-12-4 — /Travel PR News/ — Hersheypark won two Brass Ring Awards and a Spirit award at the annual International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA) industry convention held in Orlando, FL. The awards recognize properties for excellence in a variety of categories.

The prestigious Brass Ring Award is named for the tradition of the brass ring,a term synonymous with spectacular achievement which dates back to the 1800s when rings were suspended above carousel riders; rings were low enough for riders to grasp, but high enough to pose a challenge.

“Makin’ Whoopie Pies,” a new food venue for the 2015 Park season, was awarded the Brass Ring for Best New Menu Item. The Brass Ring for Best Atmospheric/Street Show Performance Act was presented to Cocoa Rhythm Factory, produced and directed by Windish Music & Productions, of West Chester, Pa.

The Spirit Award recognizes IAAPA members committed to excellence in training and professional development in the area of entertainment. This year the award went to Maggie Latterell, stage manager for Dance, Dance, Dance: Encore.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be recognized by our peers in the amusement industry,” said Kevin Stumpf, General Manager of Attractions & Entertainment. “Everyone at the Park worked together as a team to bring home these prestigious awards.”

Founded in 1918, IAAPA represents more than 4,500 facility, supplier and individual members from more than 90 countries, including most amusement parks and attractions in the United States.
