Helping Heroes – Marriott Rewards Members Donate Points to Help Wounded Warriors

2012-07-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — For those injured while serving in the military, having the support of friends and family is crucial.  But the costs of long stays far from home can be prohibitive.  Now Marriott Rewards members can donate points to Fisher House Foundation’s Hotels For Heroes to provide free hotel rooms for ailing military servicemen and women and their families during treatment.

“Our company truly appreciates the dedication of our service men and women and the work they do to protect our freedom.  That is why we are so proud of this partnership with Hotels For Heroes.  Now we can offer our members the option of helping those who’ve been injured while serving and protecting the USA,” said Ed French, senior vice president, Marriott Rewards.

Members who want to donate points can visit www.marriottrewards.com.  Points can be redeemed for Hotel for Heroes Charitable Awards in the following denominations:

• 1,000 Marriott Rewards points
• 5,000 Marriott Rewards points
• 10,000 Marriott Rewards points
• 25,000 Marriott Rewards points

The nonprofit Fisher House Foundation administers the “Hotels for Heroes” program in partnership with the Department of Defense.  Fisher House Foundation provides free hotel rooms to wounded, injured, and ill military men and women who are undergoing treatment at a military or VA medical center and to attend authorized events.  All requests for a free hotel room are verified by an authorized government official.

Hotels for Hero is just one of several initiatives Marriott has to help service men and women.  Others include a military discount at 3,700 hotels around the world; Fairways Furloughs Military Golf, a program to offer discounted golf to members of the military; and volunteer efforts, both in-kind and volunteer support for military organizations including USO and Fisher House.

Marriott Rewards has no blackout dates and members can earn and redeem points at more than 3,600 Marriott International hotels around the world, including JW Marriott®, EDITION, The Autograph Collection, Renaissance® Hotels, AC Hotels by Marriott, Marriott® Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott®, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott®, SpringHill Suites by Marriott®, Residence Inn by Marriott®, TownePlace Suites by Marriott®, and Marriott Vacation Club®.  Members may also earn and redeem points at Marriott Rewards exclusive luxury hotel partner, The Ritz-Carlton.
