London at Park Lane, England, 2018-Sep-28 — /Travel PR News/ — On September 24, 2018, John Stauss, formerly General Manager and Regional Vice President of Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane, was awarded the AA Lifetime Achievement Award 2018-19 at the annual AA Hospitality Awards at Grosvenor House in London. Marking 110 years of AA Hotel & Hospitality Services, the event was attended by more than 1,000 key hotel and restaurant industry guests.
The award was first introduced in 2006 and recognises professionals within the hospitality industry who have committed their lives to the pursuit of perfection within their discipline.
Stauss retired at the end of March 2018, having spent the last 23 years as General Manager of the 5 AA Red Star, 193-bedroom Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane, 21 years as Regional Vice President, 35 years with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and more than 50 years in the industry.
American-born Stauss joined Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in 1982 as Resident Manager of what was then Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco. In 1985, still in California, he moved to Four Seasons Hotel Newport Beach (formerly a Four Seasons hotel) as pre-opening Hotel Manager and in 1988 he opened the new Four Seasons Resort Nevis. Along the way, Stauss accumulated numerous awards including UK Hotelier of the Year in 2005, Virtuoso Hotelier of the Year and saw the iconic London property named among the Best Places to Work in the UK.
During his time at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane, Stauss oversaw the two-year closure and subsequent redevelopment of the Hotel, transforming the longest serving Four Seasons Hotel to its newest. Reopening in 2011, the Hotel quickly went on to win AA Hotel of the Year (London) the following year.
