The Istanbul Design Biennial will consist of two exhibitions, exploring a wide range of fields, from urban, industrial and graphic design to architecture, fashion and new media design. Musibet, exhibition curated by Emre Arolat, who is very well-known in the architectural and design world, will be held at the Istanbul Modern Museum of Modern Art, Istanbul’s first private museum dedicated to showcasing and promoting Turkish contemporary art. This exhibition serves to critique the city’s current urban transformation. Meanwhile, Milan-based architect, editor and curator Joseph Grima’s Adhocracyexhibition will be held at the Galata Greek Primary School, a historical building whose neo-classic architectural style dates back to the late 19th century.
Set in the historical peninsula and on the shores of Bosphorus,Four Seasons Hotels at Sultanahmet and the Bosphorus have both convenient locations due to their close proximity to both exhibition venues. A ticket during Istanbul Design Biennial can be turned into a great excuse to enjoy lunch, brunch and dinner by the breathtaking views of the Bosphorus or in the enchanting surroundings of the Old City. Offering fresh and local ingredients, both Hotels offer seasonal menus. While Aqua restaurant at Bosphorus is a paradise for Italian-cuisine lovers, Seasons Restaurant at Sultanahmet offers Turkish and Mediterranean delights.
With the aim of underlining the importance of design for production, economy, cultural interaction and quality of life, the first Istanbul Design Biennial is realized by Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts.
