Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta Master Sommelier Suyanto Wins First Prize in Indonesian Sommelier Competition

Suyanto will represent Indonesia in the World Sommelier Competition in Tokyo this March.

2013-02-22 — /travelprnews.com/ — Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta announces that its own Senior Master Sommelier Suyanto has been recognized as the Best Wine Sommelier in the Indonesian Sommelier Competition.

The Indonesian Sommelier Competition was held on January 25, 2013, with the last remaining four finalists from all over the country. The Competition is organized by the Indonesian Sommelier Association (ISA).

Suyanto was awarded the First Place Winner of this competition and will represent Indonesia in the World Sommelier Competition in Tokyo, Japan from March 26 – 29, 2013.

“I am very proud of Suyanto. He has proven an exceptional sommelier while he has headed The Cellar for the past ten years. This achievement will definitely put Indonesia on the map in the wine community and will indeed elevate Suyanto’s position in the international arena as senior master sommelier. I wish Suyanto all the best for the international competition in Tokyo,” said Vikram Reddy, general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta.

Suyanto began his wine career in 2001 when he joined the opening team of The Cellar at Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta. He was the first place winner of a wine serving and tasting competition in 2006 and has won several awards since, including being voted as the best Wine Sommelier in Jakarta on 2007.
