Finnair to Increase Capacity and Weekly Flights to Lapland and Northern Finland for Winter 2025

(IN SHORT) Finnair is increasing its winter capacity to Finnish Lapland next season, offering a record number of weekly flights to Rovaniemi, Ivalo, and Kittilä. The airline will operate up to 72 weekly flights to Rovaniemi, up to 41 to Kittilä, and up to 33 to Ivalo, with a focus on high-season travel from December to February. Additional flights will also be available for Kuusamo, ensuring greater flexibility and access to these popular destinations throughout the winter.

(PRESS RELEASE) VANTAA, 2025-May-21 — /Travel PR News/ — Finnair is set to offer a record amount of capacity to Finnish Lapland next winter, with increased weekly frequencies to the popular winter destinations of Rovaniemi, Ivalo, and Kittilä. The additional flights will focus on the busiest travel days, especially around weekends when rental cottages typically experience their changeover days.

“We are delighted to provide our customers with even more comprehensive connections to all of our Lapland destinations this winter,” said Perttu Jolma, Vice President of Network at Finnair. “These additional flights will be most concentrated during the high season from December to February, but we’ve also added services for March, ensuring robust support throughout the winter travel season.”

Finnair, known as the official airline of Santa Claus, will increase the number of flights to Rovaniemi, the heart of Lapland, with up to 72 weekly flights next winter—10 more than last winter. During the peak season, Finnair will operate up to 16 flights per day on Saturdays and 14 flights per day on Sundays to accommodate the high demand.

Kittilä, a gateway to the renowned ski resorts of Levi and Ylläs, will also see a significant boost with up to 41 weekly flights—seven more than the previous year. During the busiest weeks, Finnair will fly to Kittilä up to eight times per day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Finnair’s northernmost destination, Ivalo, will offer up to 33 weekly flights, with additional services on Saturdays and Sundays to ensure easy access to the Arctic region.

In addition to its expanded Lapland services, Finnair will also introduce two additional frequencies on Saturdays and one on Sundays to Kuusamo, a popular winter destination in Northern Finland, further enhancing its winter travel offerings in the region.
