ST. LOUIS, 2015-6-8 — /Travel PR News/ — Enterprise Rideshare, a service of Enterprise Rent-A-Car and the second largest vanpool operation in the country, is partnering with the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) to create and expand vanpool programs across the country. The announcement was made this week at the 2015 CTAA Expo, an annual event that brings together transportation experts and community leaders to share best practices for addressing the most pressing mobility issues.
The partnership between Enterprise Rideshare and CTAA is a component of CTAA’s Vanpool Works program, a collaborative effort to provide organizations with the resources to start up or expand a vanpool program of any size.
Enterprise Rideshare is supported by the extensive Enterprise Rent-A-Car neighborhood network of more than 5,500 rental offices located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population. Enterprise’s infrastructure and operational expertise will facilitate the development of cost-effective vanpool programs, enabling groups of five or more people with similar commuting routes to share a vehicle and save time and money on their daily travel.
“As communities and their needs change, so should our approach to transportation,” said Ryan Johnson, vice president overseeing Enterprise Rideshare as well as Enterprise CarShare and Zimride by Enterprise.
Johnson participated at the 2013 Shared-Use Mobility Summit in San Francisco and in the “Urban Myths/Urban Mobility” panel discussion at the 2014 SXSW Eco conference in Austin. “At Enterprise, we strive to be a total transportation solution for our customers by providing a range of sustainable options,” he said. “The vanpool development assistance offered through our partnership with CTAA will provide communities with convenient, sustainable transportation solutions for commuters.”
Enterprise Rideshare shares best practices for vanpooling in all 50 states. From providing an industry-leading selection of vehicles to customizable vanpool programs, Enterprise Rideshare helps eliminate common barriers communities face in creating vanpool services, particularly in small urban or rural areas where public transportation may be limited.
Cost-Effective Transportation Alternative
“Vanpooling is one of the most cost-effective transportation alternatives available today, and many communities could benefit from the expansion of these programs,” said Dale J. Marsico, director of CTAA. “Our partnership with Enterprise Rideshare will make the development of vanpool services easy, scalable and affordable for community and public transportation agencies of all sizes.”
Enterprise Rideshare has been operating vanpool programs across the United States for more than 20 years and offers a level of fleet flexibility and local service that is unmatched in the vanpool industry.
In addition to providing flexible commuting options for those with limited public transportation access, vanpooling offers a host of benefits to commuters and businesses alike. Enterprise estimates that, based on an average commute of 50 miles per day, vanpools can save an individual rider up to $10,000 per year, when considering tolls, gas, vehicle maintenance costs and depreciation. In fact, many employers have leveraged Enterprise Rideshare’s vanpool programs as an added benefit for employees, providing a competitive differentiator for recruiting and a way to improve their corporate sustainability profile.
