DHL To Open 900 New Positions at CVG Hub

  • Job fair to be held Saturday, March 4, at CVG Centre
  • Completion of $108 million expansion signals start of extensive hiring
  • Projected growth is expected to increase hub’s work force to more than 3,300

Hebron, KY, 2017-Mar-03 — /Travel PR News/ — DHL Express, the world’s leading international express services provider, today announced it will recruit approximately 900 new positions as the company completes the latest $108 million expansion of its Americas Hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport. The expansion to a new day sort operation and projected growth in shipments is expected to increase the hub’s workforce to more than 3,300 from the current 2,400 employees.

In order to fill these new positions, DHL will hold a job fair on Saturday, March 4, at the CVG Centre in Erlanger. Those hired should be ready to begin work as soon as pre employment processing is complete and no later than May 1st when the new Daytime operation is scheduled to begin.

“We are excited to leverage our newly expanded Americas Hub and welcome talented potential candidates to fill these new positions,” said Mike Parra, CEO, DHL Express Americas. “As we look to the future, we know the continued investment in motivated people is the key to ensuring that we meet the demands of our customers and have the ability to handle the continued growth and expansion that will occur at our CVG Hub location.”

This latest expansion features a new north ramp that’s built on 45 acres of land and provides parking space for 16 additional planes, bringing the hub’s total capacity to 65 aircraft gates. The expansion also includes additional automated sorting capability and 40 new reload positions that will enhance the hub’s ability to handle the growing shipment volume expected to be seen in the United States and throughout the Americas.  It also adds new storage and warehouse space for ramp equipment and shipping containers.

DHL has invested more than $280 million in its Americas Hub at the CVG airport since 2009. The company’s Americas Region encompasses North and South America as well as the Caribbean.

“DHL is a tremendous business partner at CVG, and we’re pleased about their continued investment and job growth in our community,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, CVG. “These additional 900 jobs is another demonstration of DHL’s positive impact on the Tristate region.”

The expected shipment growth will require DHL to add a new day shift seven days a week, beginning in May, to complement the evening shifts currently running at the hub.

The new jobs at the DHL hub, an equal mix of full- and part-time positions, offer health benefits and tuition reimbursement, as well as allow for a variety of flexible work schedules. Those hired for these new positions will also benefit from the company’s award-winning employee training and career advancement programs. DHL has been certified as a Top Employer in the U.S. in the past two years and again in 2017.
