Current CEO of Swedish Melker Schörling AB to succeed Simone Menne
COLOGNE, GERMANY, 2016-Jul-05 — /Travel PR News/ — Ulrik Svensson has been appointed to the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG to serve as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. He will assume his new duties on 1 January 2017, with a contract of employment valid until 31 December 2019. Ulrik Svensson was appointed by the Deutsche Lufthansa AG Supervisory Board when it met in Frankfurt today. He succeeds Simone Menne, who, by agreement with the Executive and Supervisory Boards, will leave the company on 31 August 2016.
For the interim period between Simone Menne’s departure and Ulrik Svensson’s assumption of his new duties, Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Executive Board & CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, will head the company’s Finance division in addition to his CEO duties.

Ulrik Svensson is currently Chief Executive Officer of Melker Schörling AB (MSAB), a position he has held since 2006. MSAB is a long-term-oriented and stock market-listed investment company with holdings in six companies: AAK, ASSA ABLOY, Hexagon (Leica), Hexpol, Loomis and Securitas. Svensson serves on the supervisory boards or the boards of directors and as chair of the audit committees of five of these companies and of Flughafen Zürich AG, the Zurich airport authority. Prior to his present CEO position, Ulrik Svensson served as Managing Director Finance and CFO of Swiss International Air Lines from 2003 to 2006, and was instrumental in the company’s turnaround and its acquisition by the Lufthansa Group.
Ulrik Svensson worked from 1992 to 2000 in senior finance positions in the two related telecom companies Millicom and Société Européenne de Communication S.A. based in Luxembourg. From 2000 to 2003 he was CFO of the British office product provider Esselte.
Ulrik Svensson was born in Varberg (Sweden) on 27 June 1961. He is a Swedish national and graduated in business administration from the Stockholm School of Economics. Ulrik Svensson is married and has three children.
