2012-09-05 — /travelprnews.com/ — Monday evening 3 September 2012, Delta Air Lines received the “Jan Dellaert award”. The award was presented by Executive Vice President & COO of Schiphol Group, Ad Rutten. Delta Air Lines received the award as a result of their contribution towards strengthening Schiphol’s position as an international transfer airport. Schiphol is Delta Air Lines’ biggest European hub and is an important partner in SkyTeam. Specifically Delta’s trans-Atlantic connections are of great value for the mainport and the Netherlands.
Delta Air Lines
In 2011, Delta Air Lines carried 2.4 million passengers via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. This makes it the fourth-largest airline company at Schiphol in terms of passenger numbers, and the largest intercontinental non-Dutch airline at the airport. From Schiphol, Delta Air Lines serves ten destinations of which nine are located in the United States.
“Jan Dellaert Award”
The “Jan Dellaert Award” is awarded to an organization or person that has made an extraordinary contribution to the airline industry in the Netherlands and to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The award is named after “the founding father of Schiphol”, Jan Dellaert, the founder and first station chief.
